Ingredients:
- 6 –8 apples, peeled and sliced
- 4 T. cornstarch
- 4-6 yams, fresh or canned
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 C yam liquid
- ½ C margarine
- 1 C sugar
Instructions:
- Boil yams in water until just soft, then remove yams and use liquid to make sauce.
- Mix cornstarch with a little cold water to dissolve and add 2 C hot yam water, salt, sugar and margarine.
- Cook over medium heat until mixture bubbles and thickens, stirring constantly.
- Pour sauce over sliced apples and yams laid out in a 3-quart casserole.
- Cover and bake 30-45 minutes or until apples are tender.
